Thabo Sefolosha Reportedly Out For Season Due to Broken Ankle From NYPD Arrest

Atlanta guard Thabo Sefolosha is reportedly out for the season, per Real GM, with a broken ankle following an early-morning incident Wednesday with the New York City Police. Sefolosha, along with teammate Pero Antic, were charged with misdemeanors at the same scene Pacers forward Chris Copeland and his wife were were stabbed.

More specifically, Thabo Sefolosha has sustained a fractured tibia in his leg, league sources tell RealGM. MRIs ongoing on other damages.

On Wednesday the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that the pair were asked to move by police six times but didn’t move from the area. From the police report, Sefolosha, “charged officers in an “aggressive manner.” It took four police officers to restrain and handcuff Sefolosha per the police report , who was seen afterward walking with a “pronounced limp.”
The Hawks players issued a joint statement disputing the charges:
"“As members of the Atlanta Hawks, we hold ourselves to a high standard and take our roles as professionals very seriously. We will contest these charges and look forward to communicating the facts of the situation at the appropriate time. We apologize to our respective families, teammates, and the Hawks organization for any negative attention this incident has brought upon them. We are unable to provide further comment as this is an ongoing legal matter.”"
The NBA is investigating the incident.
