BU Goalie Drops Puck Into Own Goal in National Championship Game

Matt O’Connor, the goalie for Boston University, caught a puck that Providence’s Kyle McKenzie had dumped into the BU zone to set up a line change, hesitated for a second, and then accidentally dropped it into his own net. This costly mistake tied the game at 3-3, and Providence would later score the decisive goal for a 4-3 victory in the national championship game. Anybody with any empathy has to feel absolutely awful for O’Connor here — this scenario is nightmarish.
