Scott Brooks has been fired by Oklahoma City after spending seven seasons with the team and compiling a 338-207 record in the regular season, and 39-34 in the playoffs. The team was snakebitten by injuries this season — most prominently Kevin Durant’s never-healed foot — and all of a sudden a championship window that felt like it would last a decade a few years ago is in ominous shape.

Brooks had been said to be on the chopping block for the past week; his rumored replacement, Kevin Ollie, issued a statement earlier today to deny interest in other jobs. Oklahoma City’s biggest priority will be finding a coach that Durant, who is a free agent at the end of next season, is fond of.
