Adrian Beltre is going to end up as one of the best third baseman in baseball history whenever the 36-year-old decides to retire. Let’s hope that the BBWAA remembers this terrific moment when it comes time to vote for Beltre — hopefully by 2024 the writers will no longer vote via paper ballots.

On Friday night Beltre broke three bats against Angels pitcher Garrett Richards. What he did afterward, per the Orange County Register, is pretty amazing — he sent him an invoice for the bats.

"It was a real invoice, like Beltre went to an office-supply store and bought a pack of them or something. “Cash only, no checks,” he wrote above his signature. Richards and teammate Mike Trout laughed about it, and Richards sent back a signed batting-practice bat, inscribing on it he hoped that covered his debt."

Let’s hope Beltre saves the invoices for future use.

Beltre is three home runs away from 400 for his career.
