Orioles-White Sox Game Postponded Due to Protests in Baltimore
By Mike Cardillo
The Baltimore Orioles announced Monday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox will be postponed. The team cited safety concerns following a series of protests around the city following the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died in police custody earlier this month after suffering a spinal injury.
The decision came less than an hour before the scheduled first pitch.
It appears, according to reporters at the scene via Twitter, that some fans were let into the stadium before the decision was made to postpone the game.
UPDATE: Per the AP, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said the league is exploring options, including moving Tuesday’s game to Nationals Park in Washington, “if safety continued to be an issue.”
