Billy Donovan is the New Oklahoma City Thunder Coach [UPDATE]

Billy Donovan is “finalizing a contract” to become the next Oklahoma City Thunder coach, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Donovan was linked to the Orlando Magic job back in 2007, then backed out after agreeing to coach there, so keep that in mind. But Wojnarowski says that Donovan has been the only candidate that GM Sam Presti has pursued after firing Scott Brooks.
According to the report,Kevin Durantreached out to former Florida players to discuss Donovan, and was generally positive about him. Durant, of course, is a free agent after next season, and recruiting him to remain in Oklahoma City will be a big part of Donovan’s future success if he is in fact the next head coach.
