Alex Rodriguez hit his historic 660th home run Friday night at Fenway Park, tying him with Willie Mays for fourth all-time. Red Sox fan Mike Shuster caught the ball up in the Green Monster seats and per the New York Post it doesn’t sound like he’s going to give the ball to A-Rod (or anyone) …. at least until a price is reached.

"“I know he got paid $6 million just to hit the home run … maybe,’’ said Shuster, a 25-year-old financial adviser from Warwick, R.I. “If he wanted to take a picture with the ball, he’d be more than welcome, but I’m not giving it to him.”"

The Post writes that the Red Sox offered memorabilia for the ball, which Shuster declined.

"“I wasn’t going to give it away,” said Shuster, who was sitting in Monster Section 2, Row 3, Seat 4. “I think I can hold my own. I’m in sales. I’m gonna go home and sleep on it and see what I can come up with.”"

Apparently this wouldn’t have been an issue if Michael Polacco, the fan sitting next to Schuster, caught it.

"“I wanted to throw that ball back,” Polacco said. “There was a 1,000-percent chance that’s what I would have done. We hate the Yankees around here and we can’t stand him.”"

The usual answer here is to quote Indiana Jones that the ball, “belongs in a museum,” but we’ll have to see what happens since this is a unique situation.

Shuster turned out to be pretty lucky on Friday, as he says in the interview below he wound up with the last ticket in the Green Monster seats and had just returned from the bathroom as A-Rod was pinch-hitting.
