La’el Collins was rated as a first round NFL Draft pick. Last week, days ahead of the draft, news broke that Collins former girlfriend, Brittney Mills, was shot and killed while she was pregnant. Although police in Louisiana never listed Collins as a suspect, it was enough uncertainty for the former LSU offensive lineman to go undrafted.

A week after the first round, Collins landed with the Dallas Cowboys per numerous NFL sources. Adam Schefter says Collins will get a three-year deal worth $1.65 million that is fully guaranteed.

The Dallas Star-Telegraph reports that Collins met with Jerry Jones at the Cowboys’ owners home on Wednesday, saying the organization gave him the “full court press” and that quarterback Tony Romo was present.
