Illinois Women's Basketball Program Faces Allegations of Racism and Injury Mistreatment

Illinois assistant women’s basketball coach Mike Divilbiss has left the program, and head coach Matt Bollant is under fire, after the families of former players sent letters to the office of school Chancellor Phyllis Wise which alleged racism, emotional abuse, and injury mistreatment by the coaches. The Daily Illini first obtained the letters, which were also detailed in the following text by the Chicago Tribune:

The Daily Illini obtained statement from the university after Divilbiss was said to have had a “mutual agreement” with Bollant to leave the program:

This feels like a story that won’t go away as expediently as Illinois’ administration might prefer.
