Robert Kraft Says Bill Belichick Has Been Radio Silent Because He's Focusing on Next Season

Peter King spoke with Patriots owner Robert Kraft for nearly an hour for this week’s MMQB. The whole interview is worth a read, both for what Kraft said and what he didn’t. He continues to fire not-so-subtle shots across the bow of Roger Goodell; he wouldn’t comment on their present relationship, and did not issue an outright denial when asked if he’d consider suing the league over the franchise’s Ballghazi discipline.

Last week, I reasoned that Bill Belichick’s silence on the subject was damning for Tom Brady. Kraft sees it differently. The coach is “compartmentalizing”:

My belief remains that Brady participated in something that was untoward, but also not such a big deal, and the stark overreaction to the circumstances is once again exposing the league office as a kangaroo court. Goodell’s appeal ruling will be fascinating on several levels.
