Steven Borden played tight end at Kentucky and put up modest stats as a senior – four catches for 33 yards. But he was one of the best-known players on the Wildcats because he’s the son of former legendary wrestler Sting.

Not a wrestling fan? You’ve still probably heard of Sting. He’s a chiseled, 6-foot-2, 250-pound guy who painted his face. His first tag-team partner? Jim Hellwig, better known as the Ultimate Warrior (RIP).

Sting blew up in 1988 when he battled Ric Flair for the NWA Heavyweight Championship, later went toe-to-toe with the Four Horsemen, and then teamed up with Nikita Koloff. Man, I was a wrestling nerd in the late 80s. Then I realized it was fake and moved on.

Anyway, Sting’s son is 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds and he’s trying out for the Kansas City Chiefs. Andy Reid seems like the type of guy to favor the son of a professional wrestler, so here’s hoping Borden makes the team.
