Bryce Harper Got Tossed By Marvin Hudson For THIS!

Bryce Harper took a called strike in the third inning of tonight’s Nationals-Yankees game in Washington. The call — which was the first pitch of the at bat — irked Harper enough for him to step out of the box, while home plate umpire Marvin Hudson traded words with the Nationals’ dugout. Hudson pointed and told Harper to step back in the box, so he stuck his toe on the chalk. Hudson apparently took offense to this egregious act and threw the red-hot Harper out of the game.

This seemed like a little much, no? Then again, most fans at the game probably bought tickets for the umpires, not to see the best young left-handed slugger in the game. Or maybe it’s the other way around. I get confused sometimes. So many rules, unwritten or otherwise.

Nationals manager Matt Williams proceeded to flip out …

… and joined Harper in the clubhouse for his troubles.
