Darrelle Revis on Deflategate: The Patriots "have a history of doing stuff"
By Mike Cardillo
Darrelle Revis signed with the Jets, leaving the Patriots in the offseason. It took until May for anyone to ask him thoughts on the never-ending Deflategate/Ballghazi saga. The New York Daily News‘ Manish Mehta spoke with the cornerback on Wednesday and it doesn’t sound like he and Tom Brady will be exchanging Christmas cards any more.
Revis mentioned the Patriots’ past when it comes to skirting the rules, namely Spygate, saying they “have a history of doing stuff.”
"“New England’s been doing stuff in the past and getting in trouble,” Revis said. “When stuff repeatedly happens, then that’s it. I don’t know what else to tell you. Stuff repeatedly happened through the years. You got SpyGate, you got this and that and everything else. Obviously in those situations in the past, they had the evidence. So they did what they needed to do.”"
Mehta asked Revis if he thinks Brady is a cheater and he didn’t exactly offer a ringing endorsment of his ex-teammate, either.
"“I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t care. It doesn’t matter. If people want to judge him as a cheater, that’s their opinion.”"
However he feels, Revis got his Super Bowl ring. The Patriots and Jets don’t play each other until Oct. 23, so Brady (barring injury) should be back under center. Revis, meanwhile, isn’t endearing himself to New England fans since leaving, at all. Unlike his angry Instagram comments, doubt Revis can use the hacked explanation with these quotes.
