Though I didn’t realize it until this morning, apparently Lower Wacker Drive is a hotbed for drag racing in downtown Chicago, and has been for years. According to Chicago’s DNA Info, various deterrents are being kicked around to put an end to the practice, including speed bumps. There’s apparently not much that cops have been able to do about it — a police commander told local residents that they once wrote 125 tickets in a single night.

“We’ve called literally hundreds of times,” said a neighborhood resident. “The cops come, make [the racers] all leave, and they come back 20 minutes later.”
