Daniel Cormier Wins Light Heavyweight Title, Attempts to Reignite War with Jon Jones

After forcing Anthony “Rumble” Johnson to tap out last night in the third round of their UFC 187 bout, Daniel Cormier is now the official UFC light heavyweight champion. That would mean he’s the best in the world, right!? Maybe, maybe not…

As many of you know, Jon Jones is still out there. He was stripped, in April, of his light heavyweight championship — just one day after he turned himself in to police custody on a felony charge in Albuquerque, NM.

Despite finally having the title belt, it appears Cormier is not satisfied — as he had strong words for “Bones” Jones after the match:

(Warning: Explicit Language)

In January, Jon Jones defeated Cormier by unanimous decision…

and the two made it VERY clear that they genuinely do NOT like each other…

(Again, beware of vulgar language before playing)

So, here we are…

Cormier is on a roll. He’s taking pictures with Arnold Schwarzenegger…

He’s changed his name…

and he’s the light heavyweight UFC champion of the world…

…however: we all know none of this matters until he defeats Jon Jones. He may have a new shiny belt around his waist, but, I think we can all agree that he hasn’t won the ‘Pound-for-Pound’ title until he conquers the UFC’s proverbial ‘mountain’.
