Tiger Woods Will Attempt to Win at Muirfield a Sixth Time Against a Very Talented Field
By Michael Shamburger
The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village starts on Thursday. There’s only one tournament after this before the U.S. Open begins at Chambers Bay, and a lot of the top 10 are looking to get in another tournament before turning their focus to the challenging course in Washington.
Tiger Woods, currently ranked 156th, is going to make another run at Muirfield. He’s got five wins at the Memorial and has only played in the Masters and Players since February. His last win at Muirfield was in 2012.
Other world top 10 golfers that will be in the field are: Jordan Spieth (2), past Memorial winner Jim Furyk (5), past Memorial winner Justin Rose (6), Rickie Fowler (7), Dustin Johnson (8), and Jason Day (10).
The field will also include, defending champion Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Patrick Reed, and Phil Mickelson.
Some notable names that are skipping the tournament this week include, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, and Sergio Garcia.
Needless to say, this weekend should provide some exciting golf.
