NBA Finals Game 1 TV Rating: 12.9 Overnight

Golden State 108, Cleveland 100 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals was thrilling theater throughout regulation – the game fell apart for Cleveland in overtime – and fans overwhelmingly tuned in to ABC: a 12.9 overnight rating, a significant increase over last year’s Game 1 (+24 percent), and making it the highest-rated Game 1 for the Finals ever on ABC.
Stephen Curry? Check. Twenty-six points, clutch shot in the final 90 seconds (over LeBron).
LeBron James? Check. Forty-four points, the most he’s ever scored in the Finals.
Close game? Check. The Cavs had two chances in the final seconds to steal Game 1.
Game 2 is Sunday night.
