The U.S. trailed the Netherlands 3-2 in the 88th minute. A “Lampard” from Danny Williams equalized. Bobby Wood added the winner. USA 4-3 Netherlands.
Some nice stretches of play from the U.S. and some poor ones. Exhaustion led to some questionable defending at both ends toward the end. The Dutch hit the post. The U.S. hit the back of the net. The decisive moments came when 11 starters had been subbed off.
Enjoy the spectacle. Don’t read too much into it.
