Tiger Woods finished the third round of the Memorial Tournament with an 85. The worst round of his illustrious career and the third time he’s posted a score over 80 in his career.

His tournament got off to a bad start, with a 40 on the back-nine during the first round.

But he managed to turn things around on the front nine, shooting 33 to get him back to one-over, and then start his second round at three-under through nine holes. But heading into the back nine of his second round, Tiger started to struggle again. Even though he finished the back with two birdies and appeared to be doing ok, despite his horrendous tee shots, he was still visibly struggling.

Tiger’s third round of the Memorial Tournament was the worst of his career. The 14-time major champion posted a score of 85. EIGHTY-FIVE! That’s unfathomable. Several words come to mind to describe this performance, but I think posting the scorecard says enough. I mean there’s a quadruple-bogey on there.

At this point there’s not much to say about Tiger. His ups and downs have been so drastic that one has to wonder whether he’ll ever be able to be consistent enough to compete in any tournament, much less a major tournament. A good show at the U.S. Open? You can probably forget about that, the last time Tiger shot over 80 he decided to take a break from golf, and while he came back and performed well at Augusta, he still wasn’t the Tiger that we enjoyed watching dominate the sport for so long.

Is it time for Tiger to put the clubs in the garage? I’ve been against this and hoping he could turn things around, but after this performance, at a place he has dominated so many times, it may be time.
