The Patriots have released Brandon Spikes, who they just re-signed this offseason, after the linebacker’s Mercedes Maybach was found abandoned on the highway in Foxborough early Sunday morning. While Spikes claimed to have hit a deer, police found no evidence of that. However, via ESPN:

"In addition, [Massachusetts State Police spokesman David] Procopio said a short time later that police responded to a report of a 2009 Nissan Murano, also on I-495 in the same area as the abandoned car registered to Spikes, whose occupants reported that they had been rear-ended by another vehicle they did not see."

Police are investigating both incidents, and no charges have been filed yet.
