Tiger Woods Drops to #181 in World Rankings, Odds of Winning U.S. Open Cut in Half

Tiger Woods went out and shot an 85 on Saturday, joining a host of other Americans (granted, plenty who used a foot wedge and forgot a few penalty strokes to get there). It was a career-worst round, and the second time he has shot 80+ this year. Our resident golf expert Michael Shamburger was despondent at the news, saying:

“At this point there’s not much to say about Tiger. His ups and downs have been so drastic that one has to wonder whether he’ll ever be able to be consistent enough to compete in any tournament, much less a major tournament. A good show at the U.S. Open? You can probably forget about that, the last time Tiger shot over 80 he decided to take a break from golf, and while he came back and performed well at Augusta, he still wasn’t the Tiger that we enjoyed watching dominate the sport for so long.”

After yet another finish way down the leaderboard, Woods continues to drop down the World Rankings as results from two years ago fall off.

Also, according to Bovada, Tiger Woods was 14 to 1 to win the U.S. Open entering last week, but is now at 33 to 1 to win. That still feels high for a guy who is in very bad form and is a good distance from winning his last major.
