Alex Rodriguez, one of the best baseball players to ever live, collected his 3,000th career hit on Friday. Rodriguez took a first-pitch fastball from Justin Verlander to the right field stands in the 1st inning of a 7-2 Yankees win. (The foul ball guy caught it.) My personal favorite part of the MLB video is the various announcers talking about the standing ovation the New York die-hards give A-Rod as he walks to the plate while about half the crowd remains seated.

New York’s top print publications treated A-Rod’s latest milestone with their usual panache.
