Broncos Deny Report They Tried to Trade Peyton Manning to the Texans

Peyton Manning was almost traded to the Houston Texans according to a few tweets by Denver sports radio personality Benjamin Allbright. According to Allbright, the Broncos “attempted” to trade Manning to the Texans because certain people in the organization were prepared for the start of the “Osweiler era.” Allbright claims to have sources with both the Broncos and Texans who individually confirmed.

Peyton has a no-trade clause, but the Texans-Broncos-non-trade could be the reason for the  no-trade clause in his restructured contract. Still, it seems odd that the Broncos would enter into trade talks with any team that Peyton had not agreed to at least consider playing for. What with Peyton and the Broncos always being so gentlemanly and whatnot.

Patrick Smyth, the Broncos’ VP of PR denied the rumor.
