Phil Jackson, what the hell are you doing?

Unbelievably, Kristaps Porzingsis, the 19-year old from Latvia who could be the next Dirk Nowitzki or maybe the next European bust, was drafted 4th by the Knicks. He’s a 6-foot-11 power forward who enjoys shooting 3-pointers.

Yes, the same Knicks who can’t tank next year because they don’t have a 1st round draft pick. Yes, the same Knicks who have been an unmitigated disaster for the last two seasons, and will almost certainly be a dumpster fire again.

Porzingis has potential, yes, but he’s rail thin and still needs at least a year or two before becoming a legit factor off the bench. This feels like a catastrophic decision by Phil Jackson, who pretty soon will be forgotten as the guy with 11 rings, and the guy who thought he could do big things with the Knicks, but drove the franchise further into the ground. By the time Porzingis turns into a legit factor in the league, Phil Jackson will be nowhere near running the Knicks.
