Rory McIlroy Announced that He Ruptured an Ankle Ligament Playing Soccer

Rory McIlroy sent this out in the early morning hours on Monday. This is a stunner on many levels. First, he referred to it as soccer, and not football. (I guess that’s not what the rest of the world calls it after all).
More importantly, such an injury could put his appearance in the British Open, which tees off in less than two weeks, in serious doubt. We’ll await further word from medical professionals not on Instagram for a timeline on this injury.
