Eastern Washington QB Vernon Adams was expected to graduate, transfer to Oregon and compete for the starting job as a fifth-year senior. That move may be on hold. Per the Oregonian, he didn’t graduate from Eastern Washington.

"Adams was working to graduate with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, transfer to Oregon and play immediately for the Ducks because of an NCAA rule allowing players who have eligibility remaining at the time of graduation to play elsewhere without sitting out the normal one season. Adams walked in EWU’s graduation ceremony but told The Oregonian/OregonLive that he had to complete a math class with additional work in the weeks after. It appears he did not do enough."

Adams, playing with FCS teammates, produced more than 500 total yards in a win against Oregon State two years ago. Last year, he threw for 475 yards and seven touchdowns in a loss to Washington. He was expected to soften the blow from losing Marcus Mariota. Now, that prospect appears to be in serious doubt, if he can’t graduate in time to enroll this fall.

UPDATE: Adams told the Oregonian in June he had a couple tests for a math course to finish up before graduating. Oregon declared him eligible to enroll in classes July 6. Per 247, Adams always intended to graduate during the summer term. Oregon opens fall camp on Aug. 10. The Eastern Washington summer term ends on Aug. 14. That would mean Adams would miss summer conditioning workouts and potentially miss the start of camp.
