To use a phrase often seen on social media, the weather forecast Monday night in Cincinnati, “doesn’t look good.” The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms through the afternoon and into the night, which would put the Home Run Derby in jeopardy. Rain is one thing, but if there are thunderstorms and tornado watches, MLB would likely need to err on the side of caution. A lot can happen in 5-6 hours. If we know anything trying to predict the weather is a fool’s errand. Let’s just say Chris Berman and everyone on the ESPN set better have some ad lib material(*) prepared since this could go late into the night.
The Cincinnati Enquirer is running down all the weather updates here, including the use of weather sirens asking for people around the Ballpark to take cover.
Jokes aside it would be a oddly fitting coincidence for Mother Nature to screw up the Derby this year after baseball overhauled the format and made it at least passingly intriguing.
Anyways, here’s a look at some of the weather-related images circulating around Cincinnati Monday afternoon …
I'm headed to the airport amid unbelievable driving rain in Cincinnati w/ tornado/weather sirens sounding in the city. Dark like night time.

(*) Dollars to donuts Berman opens the broadcast saying, “Tonight’s forecast: cloudy with a chance of baseball.”
