Marc Leishman had a chance to do something during the third round of The Open Championship on Sunday that no one else has ever done in a major tournament, shoot 62. Leishman was eight-under through 15 holes and needed just two birdies over the last three holes to set a new record. After missing a birdie putt on the 16th, Leishman hit a nice shot in on 17 and had another chance at birdie, but missed the putt and finished up with a par. On 18, Leishman left himself a very difficult putt off the front of the green on 18, and finished it with a par also for a 64.

The 64 put Leishman one behind leader Dustin Johnson for the moment. Johnson doesn’t tee off until 3PM local time – 10AM Eastern. If the conditions remain the same, which according to Weather.com they should, Johnson, Spieth and the rest of the late tee times should have plenty of opportunities to make birdies.

Rickie Fowler also made a charge up the leaderboard on Sunday. Fowler had a bogey free round heading into the 17th, but he was able to rebound on 18 with a birdie and move to seven-under overall, only three back of Johnson.

Also moving up the board drastically: Eddie Pepperell, who had a share of the lead before slicing one into the hotel roof on the 17th, and Jim Furyk who finished the day six-under.
