The PGA Tour released the schedule for the 2015-2016 season, and there are some significant changes to the latter part of the year thanks to golf’s return to the Olympics. The changes, which are mostly unchanged through the U.S. Open, mainly affect the PGA Championship, which has been moved from August to the last week in July, leaving only one week between the third major, The Open Championship, and the final major.

"OLYMPIC ADJUSTMENTS. Due to the Olympics, the PGA Championship will now be played the final week of July. That’s the earliest that the PGA has been played since 1971, when the tournament was held in February as the first major of the season. The World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational also moves from its traditional August date to June 27-July 3. Meanwhile, the Travelers Championship moves from June to the first week of August after the PGA, and the John Deere Classic moves from July to the week after the Travelers, opposite the Olympics. The Quicken Loans National, on the other hand, moves up from July to June, and will slot in between the U.S. Open and WGC-Bridgestone."

With only one week between the final two majors of the year, it’ll be interesting to see how the major contenders set up their schedules.
