The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio gets underway on Thursday and the field is loaded with guys looking for a tune up before the PGA Championship. Jordan Spieth is the favorite, no surprise there, at 9/2 odds according to Vegas Insider. Behind Spieth are Jason Day at 12/1, and Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, and Rickie Fowler at 14/1.

Notably absent is defending champ Rory McIlroy, who is still recovering from a ruptured ATFL.

"“Unfortunately, I will not be defending my World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational title,” said McIlroy, who is still recovering from an ankle injury suffered in early July. “Best of luck to all the competitors, and I look forward to returning to Firestone in 2016.”"

McIlroy did share a video of himself working out on his Instagram account. Maybe he’ll feel he’s recovered enough to make a run at the PGA Championship.
