Les Miles Reinstated Jevonte Domond, Who Still Has Pending Domestic Violence Charges
By Jason Lisk
LSU offensive lineman Jevonte Domond was arrested back on May 25 on charges involving felony domestic violence. The allegations involved his girlfriend, and mother of his young child, and include claims that he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground while she was over the crib.
Miles suspended Domond immediately after the incident became public, but he must have learned his lesson while missing all those games in June and July. Yesterday, Miles offered up some fancy talkin’ to explain that Domond was playing and competing in camp, with the charges still pending and unresolved.
"He’s in position to compete to play,” Miles said after meeting with the media Wednesday for the start of fall camp. “We’re letting the disposition of whatever entanglement he’s involved in run its course. He’s not suspended.”"
Back in May, Miles had said, “[h]e’s suspended from the team. It’s a crime that we cannot condone and behavior that we will not tolerate.” Not tolerate, at least during the summer.
