Sydney Seau Spoke Poignantly About Her Father at the Hall of Fame

Junior Seau’s daughter Sydney was initially not going to be permitted to give this speech for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but was eventually allowed to speak to present her father. This differs a little bit from the speech she planned to give — which was published by the New York Times, and would have been on the podium instead via interview on the stage — but it was beautiful and touching.

As USA Today’s Jarrett Bell points out:

It’s understandable that Sydney opted for this route in her eloquent speech, and it’s not as though many watching were ignorant of the reasons why his father is no longer with us. Whether or not you think Junior Seau could watch down on his tribute is a matter of belief scripture or lack thereof, but it’s undeniable that he was in Canton in spirit.
