How Hard Is It to Draw Tom Brady?
By Jason Lisk
How hard is it to draw Tom Brady? Given that it’s supposedly left-handed people day or something (thanks for the whole 24 hours, world!), and that I’m left-handed and thus by edict artistic, I thought I would give it a shot. I went through our copious Tom Brady archive of photos and randomly selected some to draw, taking 5 minutes to try to whip something together.
Just look at the one up above. No way you confuse that with a cartoon villain. The recognizable #12 is there and I totally nailed the Patriots uniform shading. Obviously way better than a courtroom sketch artist.
Or maybe this one from the most recent Super Bowl. (sorry, I ran out of time to draw Richard Sherman).
Oh, wait, what about his face, you say. Okay, here’s Tom Brady as an over-the-road trucker.
And lest you forget —
So yes, honestly, drawing Brady’s face is tough. I know there was a lot of good humor in his eyes looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame cartoon, but he doesn’t have the easiest eyes to capture. In most photos, they are, well, kind of beady and tough to nail, especially in a small, quick drawing. Add in his rugged, sexy stubble, and–I’ve revealed too much. At least I got to bill my time while doing a little drawing. Happy awesome people day!
