Jordan Spieth and Jason Day Set Up Spectacular Final Pairing for Sunday at the PGA Championship
By Michael Shamburger
If you were hoping for drama entering Sunday at PGA Championship, you’re in luck.
Jordan Spieth went on an incredible run on the back nine of his third round at the PGA Championship. Spieth was several strokes behind the leaders when he made the turn at Whistling Straits, and many thought his chances at a third major in one season were over, but Spieth did what he does best and stepped up on the big stage. After turning in a six-under 30 on the back nine, Spieth moved to -13 overall, just one stroke, at the time, behind leader Jason Day.

Jason Day had ideas of his own and after a spectacular round, Day made a brutal double-bogey on the 15th that many wouldn’t recover from. Day was able to bounce back and birdie the 17th setting up the final pairing that we all want to see – outside of Spieth-McIlroy.
Lurking just behind Spieth and Day is Justin Rose, who had a great round and a shot at playing in the final group, Branden Grace, Martin Kaymer, Tony Finau, and Matt Jones. Dustin Johnson also got to -9.
