Matt Jones Hit From of a Hospitality Tent While Leading the PGA Championship
By Michael Shamburger
Matt Jones held a two-stroke lead at the PGA Championship heading into the par-4 ninth hole when he hit his drive into a hospitality tent. Instead of taking relief and playing the ball down in the trampled grass in front of the tent, Jones chose to play it where it was. The shot landed just left of the green in the rough. Jones left his chip 12 feet short and barely missed the putt, finishing the hole with a bogey to drop to -12.
Meanwhile, Jason Day birdied the hole and moved within one-stroke of Jones.
