After the first two matches of the 2015-16 Premier League season, Sunderland haven’t done much to inspire confidence among its fans or the media or, as it turns, out the gambling community. After a pair of losses to start the year Sunderland is tipped, according to the Evening Standard, at 5/8 odds to be relegated come May.

This is hardly surprising given Sunderland’s track record.

Of course it turns out one of the bookmakers offering said odds is Dafabet … which just so happens to sponsor the club’s jerseys this year.

If nothing else, the Black Cats have shown incredible consistency over the last decade of struggling for the first 4-5 months of the season, only to do just enough to eek out another season in the EPL. The last three years the team finished 17th, 14th and 16th, narrowly avoiding the final three spots.

The best bet for Sunderland is that it fires manager Dick Advocaat and finds someone else who guides the club to safety at the last minute, a repeat of what the club did last year.

Sunderland hosts Swansea City this weekend. Adjust your odds accordingly.
