Dan Le Batard’s deal to move his radio show with Jon “Stugotz” Weiner from late afternoon to Colin Cowherd’s old slot at 10am-1pm Eastern time is almost done, multiple sources tell TBL. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald was first to report this news this morning:

This comes as no surprise, as it’s what we heard as soon as it became apparent Colin was out. An ESPN spokesman declined comment.

This is not to say that there is zero chance it doesn’t come together, but all indications are that it will be happening in time for football season. (In industry terminology, the preceding sentence is what’s known as a hedge.)

[UPDATE: As Jackson notes in his piece for the Miami Herald, terms are still being negotiated with Le Batard’s co-host, Stugotz, so this is still not totally done. Writes Jackson: “Le Batard naturally wants his friend to be taken care of, so that small hurdle remains.”]

The question then becomes who takes over from 4-7pm. We’ve been hearing that Bomani Jones is the top choice. However, when reached for comment about that possibility, he said, “I have a contract to host a show from 9-11.” Though Bomani declined to elaborate further, it’s presumable that this means the sides are apart on financial terms in negotiations. Time shall tell whether they’re able to reach an agreement.
