Shaquille O’Neal has opinions on things. Earlier this week he had an opinion on Michael Jordan versus LeBron James (Dr.J, duh.) and now he has an opinion on Anthony Davis. While talking with the Wall Street Journal about today’s NBA, Shaq said that there was no one in the league today that he would want to play against, including 22-year old Anthony Davis. According to Shaq, he’s too small.

"“Too little for me. Barbeque chicken down there.”"

And this is the latest example of Shaq just saying stuff. Anthony Davis, who finished 5th in MVP voting last year, stands 6’10” and was around 240-pounds during the 2014 offseason. The idea that the lengthy Pelicans big man is too thin or light should be a distant memory. Davis is almost exactly the same size as Alonzo Mourning and isn’t that far behind many of Shaq’s main contemporaries.

David Robinson was 7’1″, 235-pounds. Hakeem Olajuwon was 7-feet, 255-pounds. Dikembe Mutombo was 7’2″, 260. Patrick Ewing was 7′, 240. There’s belief that Davis could still grow and coming into just his fourth year in the NBA, he’s likely to only get more solid. Anthony Davis is so good and so tall, he would have been great in an era.

Yeah, Anthony Davis couldn’t stop Shaq down low, but nobody could. No matter how you feel about the outlandish things Shaq says these days, he was a force of nature that none of the Hall of Famers listed above stood much of a chance. If Shaq doesn’t want to play Anthony Davis, that’s only because he’s the same size as Derrick Coleman, the only player Shaq admits dunked on him.
