Jordan Spieth’s number one ranking in the Official World Golf Rankings is no more. He held the position for a total of two weeks and surrendered the ranking to Rory McIlroy, who wasn’t in the field at The Barclays and held the spot for 54-weeks before the PGA Championship. Spieth needed to finish in the top 14 in the first FedExCup Playoff event in order to hold the ranking, but didn’t manage to do so and missed the cut after finishing seven-over with rounds of 73-74. Spieth will have a chance to reclaim the spot again at the Deutsche Bank Championship with McIlroy in the field.

Spieth’s two week reign at the top is not the shortest in OWGR history, which began in 1986. Tom Lehman held the spot for just one week in 1997 before losing it to Greg Norman.

After missing the cut, Spieth joined Rickie Fowler, who also missed the cut, in a friendly round at Baltusrol.
