Drone Crashes in Stands During U.S. Open Match
Drones are not allowed at the U.S. Open, yet one made an appearance in Louis Armstrong Stadium during the second round match between Monica Niculescu and Flavia Pennetta. The drone crashed in the nearly empty stands of the 10,000 seat arena in the middle of a point. According to the New York Daily News, the drone was piloted by a NYC teacher. Police tracked down the pilot at a marina opposite Citi Field. No word on whether the drone just got away from the guy or if he just didn’t want to buy a ticket.
