Mike Pereira: The Players Who Blindsided a Ref Should Be Charged Criminally

Mike Pereira, the officiating expert at Fox, weighed in on the brutal blindside hit two John Jay High School (a bit outside San Antonio) defensive backs laid on a referee the other night.

“It is the most despicable act I’ve ever seen on a football field,” Pereira said. “It is premeditated, and it is something that needs to be dealt with severely. Hey, the school district is investigating. So is the athletics association, and they have suspended the two players involved. That’s not enough. Criminal charges need to come — without question.”
