Terence Newman, the Minnesota Vikings veteran defensive back, turned 37 years old last week. The two-time Pro Bowler has only missed 18 games in 12 seasons. The secret to his longevity and constant good health? Red wine, obviously. Via the Pioneer Press:

"“Red wine is the key,” the Vikings’ starter said Tuesday. “Get it in your veins, baby. Keeps you strong.”"

His younger teammates don’t seem so sure.

"“He’s got something special going on, so we’re all trying to get his secrets,” said safety Harrison Smith. “That was the one that he gave us was a little bit of red wine every now and then. We’ll see how it goes. It’s got to be red. It’s good for your heart, I guess.”"

So Newman is the upperclassman constantly trying to get the younger guys to drink. Amar’e Stoudemire previously touted the healing properties of red wine, but of course, he bathes in the stuff. It seems Newman preaches a different method for getting the sweet liquefied grapes your body craves.
