Jay Glazer revealed on Fox’s NFL pregame show today that Arlen Specter, the longtime Pennsylvania Senator who initiated several Congressional prods at the NFL over the years, threatened to put him in jail if he did not release the SpyGate video, which the NFL had purportedly destroyed. In addition to his inquiries after the Patriots scandal, the Senator was long an advocate of trying to eliminate the NFL’s anti-trust exemption.

Glazer also said he’s still in possession of the tape:

In a 2014 GQ profile, Drew Magary pressed Glazer for where he got the scoop:

He’s telling me about the videotape he obtained in 2007 that showed the Patriots illegally filming the opposing team, the smoking gun in a scandal that came to be known as Spygate. Glazer has never revealed his source for the tape—he still has it and used to play it at parties—and says he’ll take it with him to his grave. But I give it a shot anyway.

How’d you get the Spygate video?

“C’mon, fucker. Are you gonna do a profile, or are you gonna ask these bullshit questions?”

This post will be updated with video of today’s Fox pre-game segment as it becomes available.
