The San Francisco 49ers have had notable problems with violence outside the stadium. Some Santa Clara City Council members are considering banning alcohol sales after halftime as a preventative measure.

Alcohol consumption has a well documented history of exacerbating many forms of violence and stupidity. So, pushing the sales cessation back is not the worst idea. Violent incidents happen in college too, though less often after the game where (at most venues) fans spend 3-4 hours sobering up.
