Roger Federer became the #1 tennis player in the world in 2004. In December of that year, 18-year old Jesus Aparicio was involved in a car crash that left him in a coma. Last month, Aparicio, a Federer fan, woke up from his coma, thrilled and confused by the news that Roger Federer was still playing tennis and playing it well. Via Tennis World:

"“It came like a flash to my mind and I asked about Roger. I thought he had retired. When I knew that at 34-years, he is still playing and is number two in the world, I thought they were kidding me. When I heard that he reached 17 slam titles, I put my hands on my face.”"

Aparicio was able to watch the U.S. Open final between Novak Djokovic and Federer. Djokovic, of course, was completely new to Aparicio, having just turned pro 2003. Aparicio hopes to see Federer play in person.
