Former FIFA vice president and Sepp Blatter ally Jack Warner has been banned from soccer-related activities for life by the organization due to repeated misconduct. The decision comes following an investigation into the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Warner, who stepped down from the position in 2011, is also facing fraud charges in the United States.

“The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert, has decided to ban the former FIFA Vice-President and Executive Committee member as well as CONCACAF President, Mr Jack Warner, from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for life,” a FIFA statement read.

FIFA said Warner was involved in the “offer, acceptance, and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments.”

The former CONCACAF president famously used an Onion headline to defend himself in the face of corruption accusations.
