Tom Brady Wasn't Endorsing Donald Trump for President, Doesn't Even Know What the Issues Are
By Kyle Koster
When Tom Brady said he hopes Donald Trump wins the presidential election, he didn’t exactly mean he hopes Donald Trump wins the presidential election.
The New England Patriots quarterback clarified his stance on The Donald yesterday during a radio interview with WEEI. And it sounds like it will be a long time until we see that “Make America Great” hat in his locker again.
“I mean, look, I’ve known him for a long time,” Brady said. He’s been a fun guy that I’ve had a lot of time around.”
“Whatever I vote is going to be my own personal choice based on how I feel. I don’t even know what the issues are. I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar.”
Brady declined to say whether he’d vote for Trump. In fact, he hinted his original comments may have been made to troll basement-dwelling bloggers like the ones who work for this website.
“It’s just a different world than when I started in professional football,” he said. “Even an off-handed comment like that, like you said, that people may run with; and I understand why people do run with it because you get the clicks and that type of stuff. It’s just people doing their job. A comment like that, I try to have fun with certain things.”
Man, is there anything this guy can’t do? Add “know how to get clicks” to his already impressive résumé. Seems like a slam-dunk hire for The Players Tribune.
