Daniel Murphy Crushed a Homer off Clayton Kershaw, Branded the Baseball
By Kyle Koster
Daniel Murphy put his stamp on the New York Mets’ series opening victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers by turning on a Clayton Kershaw fastball for a no-doubt home run in the fourth inning. He also put his stamp on the baseball.
What a possessive guy.
Murphy’s longball was one of three runs surrendered by Kershaw, who certainly pitched well enough to win but once again walked away with a postseason loss. Fair or not, his 1-6 playoff record will continue to be a narrative. With Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey up next for the Mets, the Dodgers ace can do nothing but wait and hope to get a chance for redemption in a deciding Game 5.
