Florida defensive back Deiondre Porter was arrested on Wednesday on aggravated assault charges. “He’s no longer with the football team,” said Florida head coach Jim McElwain, via the AP. “He’s suspended indefinitely for obviously a choice. It’s his choice not to be with us. I’m sure you’ll read about it soon enough. It’s one of those things that we don’t obviously condone. Like I said, it was his choice.”

The case against Porter stems from an alleged incident on September 29th, in which he allegedly got in a dispute with his girlfriend, who is 10 months pregnant, accusing her of being “involved with one of his teammates.” The Gainesville Police report — the full text of which is below (via Richard Johnson) — alleges that “[t]he victim stated that all of a sudden she saw the defendant raise his arm and fire the handgun in her direction. The victim said the bullet struck the wall where she was leaning”:

This is the second major issue Florida’s undefeated football team, which plays LSU this weekend, has faced this week. On Monday, the Gators learned that star quarterback Will Grier was suspended for a year for an NCAA PED violation.
