Bubba Ray Dudley: "Public Enemy Left Really Poor Taste in a Lot of People's Mouths in WWE"

The Dudley Boyz, who are in the midst of a late career renaissance in WWE, were guests on Chris Jericho’s podcast last week. During the segment above, the tag-team talked about how they first got to WWE, and how the initial meetings with Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, and others focused on how they would fit in the locker room.

Looking back on it, Bubba Ray Dudley thought it was because of how the Public Enemy — Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge, both of whom are no longer with us — did not meld there. One notable issue arose when Public Enemy were fighting the APA, a mercenary tag-team with noted tough guys Farooq (Ron Simmons) and Bradshaw (John Layfield). Apparently, Public Enemy didn’t want to go through a table at the end of the match (which was kind of their thing), tried to change it on the fly, and summarily had the heck beaten out of them on live TV. JBL has talked about this incident before:
